Getting a Passport in New York City

New York is one of the toughest places to get a passport fast, with more restrictions than most Regional Passport Offices. But of course, we can help! Our office is located in Brooklyn, and we can usually meet anywhere in Manhattan, and much of New Jersey. Our office is by appointment only, so please call ahead.

In New York, we have everything you need to get a same day passport, or a passport renewal in a hurry. The Passport Agency here is very strict, so there is a lot to know.

What you should know about how to get a passport in New York:

• This Regional Passport Agency is probably the busiest one in the country, so it can be difficult to get an appointment in time for your trip. Call us right away if you think you need help.
• The New York Agency has tight restrictions on the number of processing slots that are allocated to expediters. This means that all expediter slots regularly fill up, especially early in the week and around federal holidays, which is another reason to call right away.
• The Agency requires printed AND CONFIRMED travel itineraries for all expedited applications. They just get so many applications, they must restrict processing to people who have already confirmed their flight reservations. Don't want to buy your ticket yet? • Passport Cards are available through this location for alnd and sea travel only.
• If your application type requires approval at a local acceptance facility first (most do), you can't get that done the morning of your application. Amazingly, there are no passport acceptance facilities open early in Manhattan. In fact there are hardly any open on the weekend in the whole New York area! Here is one useful location that is open 10AM to 7PM Mon-Fri and 9AM to 5PM Sat - Sun:

• We submit applications for processing at the New York Passport Agency at 7:00AM, so we usually need your application in hand the night prior.
• Passports are usually issued around 3:00PM, though we do not have control of the exact timing.
• To get a same day passport in New York, you must be flying that night or the next morning, otherwise, they may issue your passport in 24 hours (the next morning) to make way for the most pressing cases.
