Georgia Immigration Law Temporarily Blocked by Judge

Monday, 27 June 2011 in US Immigration News 0 Comments

By Linda Ripoll

Immigration supporters throughout the country are cheering today’s ruling which temporarily blocks the Immigration Reform law that was set to go into effect in the state of Georgia on July 1st. According to a recent article on CNN.com, this is just a temporary position:

“A federal judge in Atlanta, Georgia, has blocked a controversial state law cracking down on illegal immigrants from taking effect until the broader legal issues are resolved. Monday's order by Judge Thomas Thrash, temporarily prevents enforcement of the law, which would penalize those who transport or harbor illegal immigrants.”

With this latest political move, many illegal immigrants are feeling hopeful about the future of immigration reform throughout the United States.
