Government Shutdown Halted for One Week

Ever since news of the impending government shutdown hit the media, there has been continous speculation as to when the shutdown would officially begin. News reports stated that President Obama and the White House Staff were preparing for a possible shutdown on Friday, April 8th. Fortunately, there was an budget extension which has temporarily halted the shutdown and gives the American people one more week of accessibility to government run agencies and resources. For passport and visa applicants, this is wonderful news. The US Department of State is fully functioning and processing passport and visa applications for both regular and expedited services. At the end of this week, there should be updated information regarding the government shutdown and whether or not the government can compromise on a budget.
