Passpcrt cards are a handy and less expensive alternative to the standard passport book, for travelers who make regular land and sea border crossings. While the cost is less, the applications are the same. Passport cards are not accepted for overseas air travel.
The U.S. requires all American citizens to have proper documentation to cross the Canadian and Mexican borders. It is the traveler's responsibility to obtain one prior to the trip. If you do need an American passport card in a hurry, let us know right away. We can help.
A few things you should know about passport cards:
Passport card applications take about 4 to 6 weeks for standard processing. However, as an authorized passport expediter, we are able to help clients get new passports in as little as one or two days.
All passport card applications begin with form DS-11, provided by the Department of State. Even though you can pick up paper forms at many post offices, you cannot use that version to apply for an expedited passport. See below.
New passport cards require proof of citizenship and identity. If you can't locate your birth certificate and a valid state ID, it can be very difficult to apply.
Every new passport card starts with approval at a local acceptance facility, which is usually a post office or county clerk's office. From there the sealed packet it sent to the main processing center, or you can send it to us for expedited handling.
Both adults and children are eligible for passport cards.

Some additional information about getting a new passport card:
The U.S. Department of State issues passports through it's Passport Services Directorate, and is the sole authority in determining who is permitted to receive a U.S. passport. No one can push an application through, or otherwise influence their decision. The vast majority of Americans are entitled to a passport, so long as the application process is followed correctly.
Besides the use of improper forms or insufficient documentation, the most common reasons for passport cards to be delayed or rejected are:
A past criminal record is not a reason why a person would be denied a new passport.
While a valid passport is required for travel abroad, it is not a guarantee of entry to a foreign country. It is essentially a request to be given the right to travel or reside temporarily within another government's territory, and to gain access to U.S Consular services while abroad.
